VIVA MUJERES!

26 March 2011, Saturday, 630am
Bernal St. (in front of Rosario Barangay Hall)

A project of Gender and Development, supported by Kap Kaye Dela Cruz and council, in celebration of Women's Month.

A day full of surprises for the women of Barangay Rosario.  Since this is the last Saturday of March, we wanted to end the women's month with a bang!

To start it off we had an Aerobics class with our resident Aero instructor Myla.

After the Aerobics class, under the scorching heat of the summer sun, we had a ZUMBA class with Ms Rowena Aquino.

We're just halfway there!  Next we had the ladies shaking their bodies and swaying their hips with Ms. Kat Fonacier during her Belly Dancing class.

Because of the heat we had to move inside the Barangay Hall for our Yoga Class with Ms. Janelle Castano.

That was how we spent the morning.  After lunch we had tons of activities to choose from.
Where do we start?

Something educational!  Free pregnancy, menopausal and PMS class.

For our hard working housewives who wants to earn extra cash, we had livelihood seminars as well.

For something relaxing, we turned the GAD/Event's office into a FREE Reflexology area.

Want to get your nails done?  We had free manicure/pedicure beside the food section.

We turned the women's desk department into a free fortune telling area.  For those who wants to know what the future has in store for them.

That's not all!
Manicure?  Check!
Reflexology?  Check!
Fortune Told?  Check!
How about joining the parlor games outside?  Prizes awaits!

Banana Eating Contest

Egg Catching

A different version of Trip to Jerusalem

Coin in Flour

Balloon Popping

In lieu with International Women's Month, we came up with all these activities specifically for women.  We taught of the things that matters most to women and devoted a day for them.

For the health conscious we had Aerobics, Zumba, Belly Dancing and Yoga.
For housewives who wants to earn extra we had livelihood seminars.
For the pregnant and menopausal women we had lectures for better awareness.
For relaxation we had reflexology, manicure and fortune telling.
For fun we had parlor games.

A perfect way to celebrate women's month!

BINGO Ka Na Ba? (Part 2)

26 March 2011, Saturday, 3pm
Bernal St.  (in front of the Barangay Hall)

A project of Gender and Development supported by Kap Kaye Dela Cruz and council, in celebration of Women's Month.

Due to popular demand, just 2 weeks after the much enjoyable BINGO game at Rosario Boulevard, we already had the 2nd installation of BINGO ka na ba? right in front of our barangay hall, during the women's day celebration.

Despite the heat of the 3pm sun, our BINGO fanatics were there to join the fun.

This time instead of purchasing the cards in sets of 10, you only have to buy just one card that costs 5pesos which is good for 5 games including the blackout round.

It was supposed to be just 5 games but some of our Kagawads and also Kap Kaye gave extra prizes in cash and kind which made the game more exciting.  Even though we are already done with the first 4 games, a lot are still buying BINGO cards.

Prizes include 3 grocery packs, 3,500 worth of cash prizes, 2 wrist watches, 2 sacks of rice and a pink Nokia Cellphone for the blackout round.

Tiangge sa Barangay

25-27 March 2011, Friday - Saturday
Rosario Barangay Hall

A project of Gender and Development supported by Kap Kaye Dela Cruz and council, in celebration of Women's Month.

A week before the last Friday of March we had a meeting at the GAD/Events office, Rosario Barangay Hall for the entrepreneurs who are participating at the first ever "Tiangge sa Barangay".

Since it's women's month we had several spaces in front of the Rosario barangay hall rented out for FREE to these hard working and business oriented women.

We had a food section.

And clothes and accessories station.

It was a 3 day event and because of the success, we are thinking of hosting another "Tiangge sa Barangay".

Medical and Dental Mission (Rosario Vill)

18 March 2010, Friday, 8am
Rosario Vill

A project of Gender And Development in cooperation with the Health Department, supported by Kap Kaye Dela Cruz and council.

Since summer is almost here, and we are already experiencing change in weather.  Fever, flu, coughs and colds are some of the common diseases that we are experiencing today.  We had a mini medical and dental mission for all genders, young and old

A total of 20 dental patients.

And 126 medical patients

Aside from the free "bunot" and conslutation, we supplied them with medicine, vitamins and more.

One of the goals of GAD (Gender and Development) is to help people with regards to their health.  A healthy community is a good place to live in.

Although we still have regular check ups at the Health Department at the Barangay Hall, Rosario is a very large barangay and not everyone has the means to go and avail of this free check up.  One of the goals of GAD is to bring the Health Department to these areas.

BINGO Ka Na Ba? (Part 1)

13 March 2011, Saturday, 1pm
Rosario Boulevard

A project of Gender And Development in cooperation with POWER, supported by Kap Kaye Dela Cruz and council, in celebration of Women's Month.

BINGO is a well known past time for most women and some men here in our country.  It provides a certain amount of joy and excitement especially if you only have a few numbers left to win.

BINGO ka na ba bingo cards costs 1 peso each but you have to purchase in sets.  1 set is 10pesos each good for 11 games.  Before the first game we asked volunteers from the crown to personally check that the numbers were complete.

For the first five games we gave away cash prizes.  500pesos each for games 1-4 and 1,000pesos for game 5.  In such case that there's more than 1 winner, they were asked to pick a number and whoever gets the highest wins the prize and the others get a consolation in cash not lower that 200pesos.  For games 6-11 we gave away Nokia Cellphones which includes a pretty in pink Nokia C3 for the blackout round.  Also, we raffled out a total of 4,000pesos after the blackout round.

Mechanics of the game are simple, all you have to do is purchase the cards and be there at the venue.  For every set purchased a card is assigned for each game which is indicated by the number at the back.  Since there are only 10 cards per set, for the blackout round they have to pick 1 card  from the set and the remaining 9 will be their raffle entry.

A total of more than 700 sets sold and more or less 200 participants came to spend the afternoon with us.  The aim of this project was to provide fun and relaxation for the hard working women of Brgy Rosario.

Part 2 coming soon.......
